"My grandmother shared her love of Vincent Price with me as a youth and to this day, I still enjoy his old horror movies. And that voice, how can we forget Thriller? But did you know he was an avid dog lover - almost to the point of obsessed. This tale focuses on his dog Joe, and how fulfilled he felt for having Joe in his life. " ~ Barb @ Booker T's Farm
Seriously, how did I not know this book existed?!!
Deathday by David Bussell
When Jake Fletcher is murdered, he decides he isn’t taking it lying down.
Jake had an okay life before he pissed off the wrong person and got killed for it. Now he's stuck between this world and the next, trying to figure out who did him in so he can return the favor.
But just because he's a ghost, doesn’t mean he's safe from harm. There are powers in this world that can even kill the dead.
Deathday is a short prequel to the Ghosted series, exclusive to fans of the Uncanny Kingdom. To get your free copy, and more books besides, visit https://genrereader.com/uncanny-kingdom

The Visitors by Catherine Burns
'Once you start Catherine Burns's dark, disturbing, and enthralling debut novel, it's hard to stop. The Visitors is bizarrely unsettling, yet compulsively readable.' Iain Reid, Internationally Bestselling Author of I'm Thinking of Ending Things
Marion Zetland lives with her domineering older brother, John in a decaying Georgian townhouse on the edge of a northern seaside resort. A timid spinster in her fifties who still sleeps with teddy bears, Marion does her best to shut out the shocking secret that John keeps in the cellar.
Until, suddenly, John has a heart attack and Marion is forced to go down to the cellar herself and face the gruesome truth that her brother has kept hidden.
As questions are asked and secrets unravel, maybe John isn't the only one with a dark side.
Veruska posted about this book on her Can't Wait Wednesday post (I really need to get back to doing those!) and it just called to me. A creepy secret in the cellar? How can you not?!

"The book is funny in spite of the subject matter. Jake is guided off the platform after the murder and goes into a waiting room, not ready to believe that he is dead and being processed to move on. He notices several celebrities there who are most definitely dead including Lemmy from Motorhead, David Bowie, Alan Rickman and Andrew Sachs. I don't want to spoil the scene by telling you what happens but I just cracked up laughing at it! It was a lovely bit of nostalgia for much missed celebrities but in a slapstick humour moment that was just great." ~ Chuckles
