Hokkaido, Japan Day 7: Furano

19/6/2012

Furano is famous for it's lavender but I didn't see any :/

Today post is gonna be rather short :/
Well I overslept a lil bit and decided I'll take a later train to Furano transiting Asahikawa. Grabbed my brekkie from a kiosk in JR Sapporo Station and waited for the 11am train.

Almost got on the reserved train >< supposed to go on the unreserved ones.

On the Ltd Express Super Kamui train to Asahikawa.

Due to my miscalculation, I had an hour to spare in Asahikawa :/ Asahikawa is famous for its shoyu ramen and zoo, but I didn't feel like any ramen and 1 hour ain't enough for a zoo visit. So I sat in their information centre in the station and wrote up on my blog post using their free wifi.

Do you have a dream?

Finally, the train bound for Furano is here!

Left and right view along the ride to Furano Station

Furano Station! around 3pm.

Was a little disappointed when I reached the station. Downtown Furano is soooooo quiet x.x
You barely see any living being x.x

I think Furano is famous for it's omelette curry coz I see it everywhere and there were brochures recommending them too. So I went to look for omelette curry and to my disappointment the ones close to the station were all closed for the noon and only open for business 5pm onwards x.x and it was only 4!

So I walked around for a bit and came across the souvenir shop. Went in and bought a Furano made grape juice. They have a grape juice/wine factory in Furano.

Btw, the nearest attraction from Furano Station is like 3km away. So I wouldn't recommend it unless you have cash to spare for car rental. They do have bus service too but I didn't go for it coz it was not cheap x.x and I don't like to go places when I'm alone and unsure of things.

So, I took the 4.55pm train bound for Asahikawa and left :/ didn't even went for the omelette curry coz by the time I'm done it'll be late and the train back to Sapporo is about 3 hour long!

Some of the unmanned station along the track

By the time I reached Sapporo I was so hungry I could swallow an elephant! Remember I didn't have anything for lunch! :(
So I thought I'll order a lil bit more for dinner and to my surprise, I think this could feed 2 person...
Btw, I went for chinese today.

1050 yen dinner set
Lesson learned, never order anything that comes as a set x.x
